So the roof is leaking in our bedroom. THE bedroom I should say. So I am stuck in this tiny cabin, with 3 small children and a dripping roof. HOW did I get here???? Seriously! I have no idea how my mother did it over the years. The places we lived... and with 5 children! Insane! Of course my husband is working because anyone who is married to a chef knows that they work all the time - and especially in the evenings. So no help from there. When I called to ask him what to do all I got was a "call the landlord" and guess what? I've been asked to put together a 3 course meal for another magazine. GREAT! I am so excited for him. But is it going to get us out of this "cabin"?? NO.
So now the children are "washing" themselves with the dish sponge. Will that hurt them? Who knows.
And the roof just keeps dripping....

Life
So, I decided to start this blog when my husband accepted a job in NY. I never really wanted to live in the midwest, so at first i thought it was a great idea. That is - until i realized that we were moving to the very end of the united states, that we would be teatering on the edge, almost falling into the great Atlantic. A place where a million dollars for a house is the median and where the locals feel that "interbreeding" is a good thing. Who knew? I didn't. No clue.
Our first contact in this area was a brash, older real estate agent.
I've decided I hate real estate agents. There are a million of them around here. They are so pushy. They are only out for themselves but they are so good at making you feel like they are "helping you". Anyway, this nice woman explained to us that her family had lived in the area for 350 years - and we better recognize and respect that! She took us to her 100 or something year old cabin on the bay which she rents out for most of the summer. Another thing they do around here I guess?? Apparently you live in your house for the winter and then come summer move out and let total strangers rent it for $6000 a month or something... I guess its a way to pay the morgage so a good business move but it seems little creepy to me. Don't ask me where these people go for the summer.
Anyway, so here we are now, in the middle of vacationland, where all the gas stations are full service, the grocery stores are dirty and charge a fortune and EVERYONE is highly pretentious...do I sound a little bitter??
